Search engine optimisation

A ranking is no longer the same as a visit

targetLAB improves technical indexability, page structure, search-focused copy and local profiles for businesses that need to be found in Google and Seznam.

Search results now place AI answers, maps, directories, products and ads around the familiar list of links. A page can keep its position while receiving fewer visits, so SEO cannot be judged from a single ranking report.

Work still begins with accessible pages, clear subjects, internal links and language-specific demand. Czech, English and Russian searches are researched separately; a translated keyword list misses the words and intent people actually use.

Czech visibility also extends beyond Google. Seznam, Firmy.cz and Mapy.cz have their own properties and procedures. targetLAB handles final on-page copy and local profiles alongside technical work; link outreach and paid link placement are outside the service.

Search changes

The result page has become another product surface

Indexability and relevance still matter, but visibility, citations and clicks now separate in ways a position report cannot explain on its own.

01

Google’s AI search features are live in Czechia

AI Overviews launched for Czech users on 20 May 2025. AI Mode followed on 8 October 2025 in Czech. These are active search surfaces in the local market, not a future format imported from the United States.

02

Position and click-through now tell different stories

Across a desktop dataset of 300,000 informational queries, Ahrefs measured first-position click-through as 58% lower in December 2025 when an AI Overview appeared. Google said in August 2025 that total organic click volume was relatively stable year on year, but published no supporting figures. Neither statement predicts a client’s traffic; together they show why rankings and clicks need separate reporting.

03

Google treats AEO and GEO as SEO

Google’s own guidance says that AI Overviews and AI Mode require no special schema, no separate AI file and no new class of optimisation. The stated requirements remain indexability, accessible text, internal links and the usual search fundamentals.

04

Seznam remains a separate Czech search ecosystem

StatCounter measured Seznam at 14.05% of Czech search across devices in July 2026. Seznam Asistent has been open to all signed-in users since 25 May 2026 and can draw on Firmy.cz. Google settings alone do not cover this part of local visibility.

Market-share figures depend on the measurement method, and click studies describe their own samples rather than every site. The source and period are part of each claim.

What the work covers

Make each useful page accessible, specific and connected

Technical access, search demand, site structure, final copy and local profiles are worked on as one search system.

  1. 01

    Establish the search baseline

Search Console, analytics, the index, current pages, queries and local profiles are reviewed together. The baseline separates an indexing problem from weak relevance, limited demand or a result page that no longer sends the same volume of clicks.

  2. 02

    Fix indexability and technical signals

Status codes, canonical tags, robots rules, sitemaps, duplicates, redirects, internal links and page speed are checked. Small technical changes are made directly; larger changes are specified for the developer and verified after release.

  3. 03

    Research demand by language

Czech, English and Russian demand is collected and grouped separately. Models help cluster large query sets and expose gaps, while targetLAB checks search intent, local wording and whether the query belongs to the business at all.

  4. 04

    Map topics to pages

The site structure assigns a clear subject and purpose to each page. Overlapping pages are consolidated or distinguished, missing pages enter the backlog, and internal links show how the subjects relate.

  5. 05

    Write the final on-page copy

Page titles, descriptions, headings and body copy are written for the agreed search intent and business facts. AI may assist with structure and comparison, but the final wording, Czech context and factual checks remain human work.

  6. 06

    Set up local search profiles

Google Business Profile, Firmy.cz and Mapy.cz are completed or corrected where they fit the business. The service does not include link outreach, paid links or a separate link-building campaign.

  7. 07

    Monitor what search actually sends

Index coverage, impressions, queries, clicks, page quality and local-profile actions are reviewed against the next backlog. Rankings are evidence, but they are not used as a substitute for traffic and useful business events.

What remains in the client’s hands

  • Technical issue register with priorities
  • Search-demand map for each working language
  • Page and topic structure
  • Final page copy, metadata and on-page specifications
  • Internal-linking and redirect map where needed
  • Updated local profiles and a record of the changes
  • Development specifications and verification notes
  • Search visibility, click and backlog report

SEO work improves the conditions for discovery and useful visits. It does not guarantee a search position, and it excludes link outreach and paid link placement.

SEO questions

What search work means after AI answers

Does SEO still matter when Google answers with AI?

Yes. Google’s AI search features draw on pages that can be crawled, indexed and understood. The surface has changed, but inaccessible pages, vague subjects and weak internal links remain obstacles. Reporting now needs to separate visibility, citations, clicks and the business events that follow.

Is AEO or GEO a separate service?

No. targetLAB treats optimisation for AI search as part of SEO. There is no separate file, schema or package that replaces sound technical access, useful pages, clear entities and current company information.

How important are Seznam and Firmy.cz?

Their importance depends on the audience, location and type of business. They are assessed separately because Seznam has its own crawler, webmaster procedures, search products and local company data. A Google-only checklist does not complete the Czech job.

Can one keyword list be translated across the site languages?

No. People describe the same need differently across Czech, English and Russian, and the available search results differ as well. Each working language receives its own demand research, page mapping and final copy.

Does targetLAB write and implement the text?

Yes. Final on-page copy is included, not only a brief for someone else. Small content and technical changes can be made directly with the required access. Larger development work is specified and checked after implementation.

How is SEO assessed without a ranking guarantee?

The working view includes index coverage, impressions, relevant queries, clicks, page quality, local-profile actions and measured enquiries or sales where the analytics supports them. A ranking remains useful evidence, but no single position is treated as the outcome.

Discuss the pages search is overlooking

Send the site and the markets or languages it needs to serve. The conversation can start with indexing, lost visibility, local profiles, an unclear site structure or pages that attract the wrong searches.
